Owes its name to the devotion to Santa Ursula, the British virgin. It is known that there was aborigine presence in the area.

Santa Ursula was one of two places where Rome’s orders were ignored, when in 1958, it eliminated a series of names of dubious origin from the calendar of the saint’s days.

Agriculture is the main basis of its economy with the cultivation of fruits, potatoes and grapes, although it occupies the last place in employing active workforce. It is the third sector that occupies most of the workforce, specially the services sector, followed by commerce and transport.
